Mill Pond Dam

The original dam and sawmill built by Louis Larson in 1862 are long gone, but the present Mill Pond Dam is just west of Main Street. The water flow varies from a powerful roar to a tame waterfall depending on water levels, but the area below the dam is usually peaceful. The more adventurous have put in a canoe here and traveled through scenic twists and turns all the way to Nest Lake.

View a panorama of the Mill Pond. If you have Quicktime, you can pan and zoom around as you stand on the bridge in New London. Choose from two different sizes, the small one loads faster and the larger is more detailed. Get Quicktime here.
